How to Start Windows with Safe Mode on Windows XP

1. Using "F8" Method.

  1. First of all, Restart your Computer.
  2. When the machine first starts again it will generally list some equipment that is installed in your machine, amount of memory, hard drives installed etc. At this point you should gently tap the F8 key repeatedly until you are presented with a Windows XP Advanced Options menu.
  3. Select option "Safe Mode" using arrow keys.
  4. Press enter to select it.
  5. If you want to start your windows normally, just reboot your Computer.

2. Using the System Config Method.

  1. First, Close all programs so that you have nothing open and are at the desktop.
  2. Click Start button and then click Run. (Windows + R)
  3. Type "msconfig" (without double-quote) then click Ok



  4. After clicking Ok, You will see this window :



  5. Click on "BOOT.INI" Tab
  6. After clicking "BOOT.INI" Tab, you will see this :



  7. Then thick the "/SAFEBOOT". After thicking "/SAFEBOOT" Click OK
  8. After you click Ok button you will see this :




  9. Click "Restart" to restart your Computer and after you reboot your computer you will on safe mode :).


So, how to make it back to normal?

It's so easy, just Repeat step 1 - 7 but unthick the "/SAFEBOOT".
